Formed under the auspices of the folksong and dance group the Rustavi Company, the all-male Rustavi Choir (pronounced: roostahvi) has been sharing their love of Soviet Georgia's polyphonic vocal music for more than three decades. The choir's director, Anzor Erkomaishvili, a seventh generation performer, formed the group shortly after graduating from the Tbilisi Conservatory. Songs and dances for work and war, spectacular costumes, the unique Georgian style of polyphonic singing and rich voices characterize the Rustavi Choir. Their intense sacred hymns with their overlapping, continuously moving harmonies are spellbinding. Rustavi is also performing a high-quality comprising national and diverse traditional dances. Excellent costumes, brilliant performance, and elaborate choreography. Erkomaishvili's vision was to break through ethnic boundaries of regional styles while performing ethnographically authentic music from all of Georgia.

"Made in Sardinia" was recorded in a wind-blown clifftop castle of Castelsardo, a fishing village in the north of Sardinia. The setting is mediaeval & the music draws upon & honours deep, ancient & peculiarly Sardinian traditions, but Enzo Favata & friends are here creating something new. The leader's core quintet - of an essentially "jazz" persuasion - is joined by various compatriots, including exponents of the island's spectacular "tenores" choral tradition & players of bamboo tubes who'd fool most ears into thinking there's a bagpipe in the house (there isn't). The leader is a superb clarinettist/saxophonist. His colleagues are likewise gifted, thoughtful & playful. Some of the musical compositions for this project follow the style of traditional pieces of the traditional Sardinian polyphony. Other compositions are the transformation of thoughts emerging in the midst of this severe landscape which he has already shared for many years with the musicians he usually works with.

Dakota Staton (June 3, 1930–April 10, 2007), also known by the Muslim name Aliyah Rabia for a period, was an American jazz vocalist who found international acclaim with the 1957 No. 4 hit, "The Late, Late Show". Born in the Homewood neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, she attended George Westinghouse High School and studied music at the Filion School of Music in Pittsburgh. Later she performed regularly in the Hill District, a jazz hotspot, as a vocalist with the Joe Wespray Orchestra, a popular Pittsburgh orchestra. She next spent several years in the nightclub circuit in such cities as Detroit, Indianapolis, Cleveland and St. Louis. While in New York, she was noticed singing at a Harlem nightclub called the Baby Grand by Dave Cavanaugh, a producer for Capitol Records. She was signed and released several singles, her success leading her to win Down Beat magazine's "Most Promising New Comer" award in 1955. In 1958, Staton wed Talib Ahmad Dawud, a black Antiguan Muslim trumpeter and noted critic of Elijah Muhammad. She released several critically acclaimed albums in the late 1950s and early 1960s, including: The Late, Late Show (1957), whose title track was her biggest hit, In the Night (1957), a collaboration with pianist George Shearing, Dynamic! (1958) and Dakota at Storyville (1961), a live album recorded at the Storyville jazz club in Boston. Staton moved to England in the mid-1960s. She continued to record semi-regularly, her recordings taking an increasingly strong gospel and blues influence.

Elle a t inhume le 18 septembre 1998 au cimetire du Montparnasse. Elle est la mre du chanteur Dominique Walter et de la photographe Florence Grure. Elle a t nomme chevalier de la Lgion d'honneur et officier des Arts et Lettres. Aprs un passage Cherbourg, elle est Paris o elle suit des cours la facult des lettres et de droit l'cole Libre des Sciences politiques. Elle obtient deux certificats de licences de philosophie. Paralllement, elle frquente avec assiduit des cabarets tels que Le Tabou et La Rose Rouge. C'est en 1952 qu'elle dbute dans la chanson au Milord l'Arsouille en interprtant notamment L'le Saint-Louis, sur une musique de Lo Ferr et des paroles dont l'auteur, Francis Claude, n'est autre que son mari et le directeur dudit cabaret. Elle obtient ensuite le Prix de la Chanson de Deauville avec Tu voulais. En 1956, elle reprsente le Luxembourg au Concours Eurovision de la chanson avec les deux titres (rglement de l'poque), Ne crois pas de Christian Guitreau et Les Amants de minuit, paroles de Jacques Lasry et musique de Simone Laurencin.

June Christy (November 20, 1925 – June 21, 1990), born Shirley Luster, was an American vocalist, best known for her work in the cool jazz genre. Her success as a singer began with The Stan Kenton Orchestra. She pursued a solo career from 1954 and is best known for her debut album Something Cool. Upon her death, she was hailed as "one of the finest and most neglected singers of her time." June Christy was born as Shirley Luster in Springfield, Illinois. She moved with her family to Decatur, Illinois when she was three years old. She began to sing with the Decatur based Bill Oetzel Orchestra at the young age of 13. While attending Decatur High School she appeared with Oetzel and his society band, the Ben Bradley Band, and Bill Madden's Band. After high school she moved to Chicago, changed her name to Sharon Leslie, and sang with a group led by Boyd Raeburn. Later she joined Benny Strong's band. In 1944, Strong's band moved to New York, while at the same time Christy was quarantined in Chicago with scarlet fever. In 1945, after hearing that Anita O'Day had left Stan Kenton's Orchestra, she auditioned and got the role as a vocalist. At first, she bore a heavy resemblance to Anita O'Day, both physically and vocally. During the time when she sang in the Orchestra, she changed her name once again, this time to June Christy. Her unique voice produced successful hits such as "Shoo Fly Pie and Apple Pan Dowdy," the million-selling "Tampico" in 1945, and "How High the Moon". "Tampico" was Kenton's biggest-selling record. When the Kenton Band temporarily disbanded in 1948, she sang in nightclubs for a short time, and reunited with the band two years later in 1950.
